There are some sporali that are best left alone since this isn't a hotzone anymore and some birds/birdmen in the northwest corner, but otherwise it's undead elves and humans. At first, just wait. The Fortress Mechanotus Zones(75-85)(Guild Hall>Buy Dragonscale Faycite>TP to Dragonscale Hills>Fortress Mechanotus>Gyrospires/Meldraths/SHIP/Steam Factory) - This area isn't one of my favorites and I haven't spent a considerable amount of time hunting in them. It works for some people and if you get in a good rhythm you can knock out quests really quick.

It is highly recommended that you do this. Not really a particular place to camp in the zone, though the area outside with the warbeasts or over on the side of Rubek Oseka would be ok (provided you can deal with underwater combat). Don't accidently attack Lhranc if you see him. Rangers and rogues used to like to come Headshot/Assassinate grind here. Here are some suggestions as to how to use these areas to hit max level. With a group of three actual players though, you can steamroll this place for GOBS of experience. It slows down a lot after 46 but is worth sticking out. Mercenaries are the answer to Everquests "grind" and Must-Group to level. Or at least a bunch of boxes with healer mercs. A NOTE ON GEAR: If you do not go through the Mines and get your tutorial set, I recommend spending any money you can get your hands on for some Simple or Rough Defiant gear. Go left from the giant hole in the ground after zone in until you get to a pond. There are a few provided for you by the game, but the vast majority of the world is gonna be uncharted and you will need reliable maps. At 8-9 go to the last cave that is next to the little paddle thing on the lake and kill bears. The run to it is also very short. At 53 start heading down into the middle of the zone. Coming from The Mines, start killing gnolls until 12. Then go and start slaughtering crows, scarecrows, and doombugs. They don't hit excessively hard and are very good exp from 68-74. Right click anywhere on this box and select "Puller" as your Main Roll. Own the Kunark Ascending expansion, which also allows the mercenaries to be trained and equipped with stat gear. As an alternative around 73, you can kill the pixies around the guild hall port in. (On Test Server, these free additional accounts come with Gold subscription status versus the Silver status on a Live server.) All leveling guides post SoD have a different format and are written for players leveling with Mercenaries. You will be teleported to Ethernere Tainted West Karana and now attuned to the Dead Hills. You can go higher, but it isn't really worth it IMO. These things are amazing exp up to 62, at which point you need to go to the back and drop down into the froglok slave tunnels. The exp is also really nice 75-80. if you are wanting to go fully afk do it in instances it is much safer imo, hmmm.. there was hatching a plan or something like that, only decent one i can think of right now. There are two main camps that youll use. Set Active: Set the current stance you have selected, Set Owner: Set your current target to your Mercs new owner, Info: Gives you the information about your merc. But if you just absolutely HAVE to go somewhere else, here are some suggestions. Stay away from the air giants though. A single heroic 85 is all that is really needed to roll over the content though, which shouldn't be hard to find on any server you're on. There are 2 nameds plus a named treant you can easily access if no one else is killing them. Suspend/Revive/Unsuspend: Suspend will temporarily get rid of this mercenary. Moloing is effective in the early levels due to overpowered Tank Mercs, but starting in the 60s leveling takes longer and the Tank Merc becomes less overpowered versus the content. This zone is very confusing to get into from the "front door", but if you're coming here at 48 then it's the best place to go. The only issue there is you need to be capable of farming Remnants of Tranquility from TBM missions and HAs. OPTIONS(96-100): To me at this point, there is no best place to go. I dont recommend using one ever unless you know the class to begin with) a questline was added in Feerott, the Dream that unlocks all ranks of Journeyman Mercenaries. Get invisibility on a character who can rez or has a healer merc at least. But since I listed Dalnir, I felt I would be remiss to list this place. ALTERNATIVES (48-62): 46-58 Old Sebilis (From City of Mist>Emerald Jungle>Trakkanon's Teeth>Old Sebilis) - How much range you get out of this zone is dependent on if it's a hot zone or not IMO. If you hit "M" you can see your map. Where it says "Type" select Journeyman (Paying players only) and then select Tier I of which ever you want Healer or Tank. This place isn't bad for everyone else in general and is much easier to get to than Ashengate, so it might be a good alternative. Aggressive: If you or any group member is attacked, your merc will attack. You can come here a little earlier if you want, but ensure you have some form of crowd control handy. I could have done slightly better there - the swarming flies gave me a surprise, and I had to remake my pet (SK) mid-lesson. Undead mobs for your paladins to slay and lots of Dark Elves to murder. The quests will take you from level 1 to level 10 very easily and outfit you with a full set of gear that is the equivalent of Crude Defiant gear. With an 85 druid can pl 20-65 in about 6 hours with the druid un-grouped and DS'ing whilst PL'd toon does at least of one point of dmg. They can take a long time, but with a little research and experience you can get the times down on her missions as well. Also the mercenary will cost the same amount he would to the level that you shrouded to. WARNING: 'Hatching a Plan' mission next to PoK standalone bank has been nerfed into uselessness.

Erillion, City of Bronze (95-100)(Guild Hall, Buy a Stone of the Shard's Fall>TP to Shard's Landing>Erillion) - This place is pretty easy and is the easiest option here by far. Below the bridge is a giant ice lake covered in spiders and slimes. Any necro will out dps a merc by a factor of 2 at least and up to a factor of 6 or 7. The key zone for AFK leveling and AA grinding in the 65 to 80 level range is Wall of Slaughter. Frontier Mountain (BEST AREA FOR 100-108) - The giant fort has one named who drops a ring that is pretty in demand. You do have to be careful if Hardcore Heritage is going on cause this zone could be boosted up into the 70s-80s range if the event is ongoing. House of Thule armor is pretty damn good for it's level. BEST: 38-48 City of Mist(PoK>Field of Bones>Emerald Jungle>City) - This is will very likely be some of the fastest leveling you will do. If you have a group, a great place to go is over to the bottom left of the top section of the zone. Also adding a few notes about Sarith and Resplendant Temple as I spent some serious time in them lately but really just came to my conclusions about them. These Mercenaries are much more weak than a Journeyman Mercenary however I guess one plus is they cost a lot less every 15 minutes! With hundreds and hundreds of zones to choose from, and classes with wildly different abilities and skills, there is no perfect way to level. Here is a quick run down of everything. After that you need to go back to the bottom right side of the map and start killing nobles and highborn. Worth about half a level in that range. if your merc adds about 20% damage to your party then your exp will be about 60% of what it could have been solo. The North Camp is the second camp when you reach level 77. As pay to play, you really don't break for AAs, just turn on autogrant and there you go. Just be kind and patient. NOTE: IF THE FABLED CREATURES ARE UP, DO NOT ATTACK THE BLACK REAVER. I will endeavor to keep this guide as up to date as possible and will revise as I play through zones with different class combinations or get better advice. It's a hot zone occasionally and of the Alaris zones that cycle as hot zones, I think it's the best. That is how GMs check. The Dead Hills Gribble HA's have been removed from rotation, though they are still the easiest and most reliable way to get through the levels. Stay at the entrance until you get to 80, then you can push into the north pathway. Very simple. Best thing about this zone is the simplicity of getting to it. One thing you can't beat is the money though. Q: I'm the puller for my group but my merc won't stop attacking it when its all the way out in the middle of no where. I will provide some quick ideas if that's not the direction you wanna go. BEST (90-96): Valley of Lunanyn (Guild Hall>Buy Chunk of Argathian Steel>TP to Argath, Bastion of Illdaera>Valley of Lunanyn) - I sincerely hate that this is still true, but the Valley is still hard to beat in this range mostly because of the unique way the zone is setup. If you are an Everquest Free to Play player then you will be unable to select a Journeyman Mercenary. There is a stupid questline that autostarts the first time you go into the zone. Classes with undead slaying/controlling spells can crush this place even harder and faster and thanks to that can really increase this zones effectiveness. Begin murdering worgs, turning the quest in every 20 worgs. The Mercenary Liaison in Cresent Reach is due east of you, if you follow the path you'll run right into him. /autoskill allows you to toggle combat skills to automatically active while attacking (formerly unlocked at 61). South of the citadel are the drachnid tunnels. They hit like Mack trucks but aren't very durable. Fun times. Once inside, just follow your map and keep heading back until mobs start getting close to your level. They like to run, so bring a snare. They complete heal and can do it 7 or 8 times in a row. Without further ado. Field of Scale theme - Journeyman Rank IV. For an AFK camp, 100 AA a day isnt too bad. All the living creatures run, so you might be in trouble without a root or snare. I strongly recommend you choose a guide from this list though as these will be the guides I will continue to roll out updates to as time goes on. At 6-7 go into the middle cave and kill pumas.
